This is perhaps Kenya’s most common and easiest way to buy electricity tokens. This is the only paybill number to purchase prepaid KPLC tokens via MPESA.

  1. Open your Mpesa App or Sim Tool Kit
  2. Select Lipa na MPESA, then select Paybill
  3. Enter the KPLC Prepaid Paybill No. 888880
  4. Enter your Meter Number as your Account Number
  5. Enter the Amount you wish to spend
  6. Finally, key in your MPESA pin and send.

In a few minutes, you will receive a confirmation message from MPesa and a text message from Kenya Power with your token details.

How to Buy KPLC Tokens Using the USSD Code *977#

Using the USSD code to buy KPLC tokens is an easy process. Follow these steps:

  • Dial the USSD Code *977# on your phone
  • Select Prepaid Services (Token) – option 1
  • Choose Buy Token
  • Enter your correct meter number
  • Enter the amount you wish to spend in Kshs
  • You will be redirected to MPESA Menu
  • Enter your MPESA pin and send

If you don’t have any money in your MPESA wallet, you will be redirected to Fuliza to complete the transaction. You will receive your tokens in a few minutes.

Additionally, for repeat processes of buying tokens to the same meter number, you will have the option of selecting “latest token” for your prepaid services. Therefore the will be no need to enter your meter number.

Visit the Nearest KPLC Halls

If you prefer to purchase tokens in person, you can do so by visiting one of their banking halls. This option is particularly useful if you prefer to pay in cash.

All you have to do is locate your nearest KPLC banking hall, provide your KPLC account number and the cash for the tokens you wish to purchase at the customer service desk. Then you handed a receipt confirming your payment.

Your tokens will be generated and you will receive a receipt confirming the amount of tokens purchased and the token number. You can then use this token to recharge your KPLC prepaid meter.

1. How to Check KPLC Bill Using MyPower Mobile App

MyPower is a mobile app by Kenya Power that you can install on your phone. I have used the app for quite some time and I can say that it is easy to use and has a really nice user interface in my opinion. Of course, there are some minor glitches here and there which we hope they’ll be fixed. With the MyPower app, you can also verify genuine Kenya Power staff members or contractors using the “Jua for Sure” button.

To get started, you’ll need to download the MyPower app from Google Play Store or Apple Store if you haven’t already. Once you’ve got the app installed on your phone, follow these steps:

  • Open the app on your phone
  • Tap on the “MY BILL/MY TOKEN” button
  • Select Meter Number
  • Enter your meter number on the Search field
  • Tap on the search icon

After a few seconds, your summary details such as name, account No., latest bill, and the latest reading will be displayed.

Alternatively, you can sign in to your existing account or create a new account. This allows you to check your power consumption rates, request E-Billing, and also account statements.

  • Click on the “Bill/Meter Query” button
  • Enter your account or meter number then click search

3. How to Check KPLC Bill via SMS

You can easily check your electricity bill using the KPLC SMS service. Compose a new message, type in your meter account number, and send it to 95551. You will receive an SMS almost immediately with your KPLC current electricity bill and account balance details.
