Two ways you can pay your monthly NHIF subscriptions are through MPESA or the bank. If you are SELF-EMPLOYED or RETIRED, you can pay for your NHIF cover using the MPESA paybill number 200222.
Here is how to pay NHIF via MPESA:
- Go to your MPESA menu
- Select Lipa na MPESA and then choose Pay Bill
- Enter the NHIF Business no (200222).
- Enter your National ID Number as Account No.
- Enter the amount (KES 500 per month or KES 6,000 for the whole year)
- Enter your MPESA Pin
- Confirm all details are correct, then press send.
You will receive a confirmation SMS from MPESA immediately. The payment will take 2 to 3 days to reflect.
Alternatively, you can pay for your NHIF cover at any of the four bank accounts provided by NHIF – at National Bank, Co-operative Bank, KCB Bank, and Equity Bank. Use your membership number or National ID number to make the payment. Your payment will reflect immediately in the NHIF system.
